Live Backlot...
To date, 22 motion picture and television productions have taken advantage of Senoia's
quaint historic locations as a backdrop for filming, including "Fried Green Tomatoes", "The War",
"The Fighting Temptations", "Driving Miss Daisy", "Broken Bridges", "A Christmas Memory",
"Pet Sematary II", and most recently, the feature film from Tyler Perry, "Meet the Browns".
To capitalize on Senoia’s history as a location for these and other projects, Riverwood Studios has contributed design expertise to the master plan of the Gin Property,
ensuring the layout is conducive to future film and television projects... in some respects, a live 'back lot'.
Streets of brownstones, while
appropriate for an early 1900's southern town, will also allow film companies to approximate or 'cheat'
looks from NY boroughs, or cities like Philadelphia, and Chicago, while single family homes will be closer to a page out of
Savannah or Charleston.
Rear alleys to all residences will not only keep garages to the rear of homes, but
will allow residents alternate access should a street ever be temporarily closed for filming.
Riverwood will also
be responsible for film related tourist attractions in Senoia, such as a recreation of the café from "Fried
Green Tomatoes", a film memorabilia museum, and an old fashioned movie theatre for film festivals, premieres, and special
private or corporate events.
